1. Prepare your export

Export records using the richest available metadata format. From Scopus, choose the CSV export — the Scopus plain-text export is not a layout GapMap reads. From Web of Science, either the 'Full Record' plain-text export or the CSV export works. RIS, BibTeX, XLSX and generic CSV files are also accepted. Keep the original export file unchanged as your source of record.

2. Import into GapMap

Open GapMap Research Studio, create or open a project, and import the export file. Confirm that titles, abstracts, authors, years, and source fields are mapped correctly before screening.

3. Screen, then extract

Work through the studies in Screening — every include, exclude or maybe is your decision, recorded with a reason and rolled into PRISMA-style counts. Extraction then fills study characteristics with a confidence score and the evidence snippet behind each field.

To add local AI-assisted extraction, set up the local research model from Data Quality first; it runs entirely on your own computer. Review every extracted field and adjust when the results do not match your protocol.

4. Export results

Trial users can validate the workflow on up to 50 records. Paid licences unlock full-record workflows and PDF, DOCX, and XLSX exports.
